Ramsport are proud to offer for sale this stunning original 1970 Porsche 914/6; bespoke built by ramsport to full Porsche M471 – 914/6 ‘GT’ specification.
This car; chassis 914 043 1402, is in ‘world-class’ condition; having recently undergone the most comprehensive and intricate bare-shell rebuild by the ramsport team. The car was bespoke-built with the objective of producing a vehicle that is unrivalled in terms of performance, condition and pedigree.
Originally supplied to the USA in May 1970; the donor car was selected for this no-expense-spared build for its exceptional originality and structural integrity. After being fully disassembled and stripped, the car was rebuilt from the ground up to incorporate all possible original NOS parts from the top-shelf “M471 option package” originally offered by Porsche to 914/6 customers which allowed them to uprate their cars to the specification of the famous 914/6-GT race cars built by Porsche for the 24h of Le Mans.
The package included all steel flared wheel arches, flared front valance, superlight fibreglass bonnet and boot lid incorporating balsa strengthening ribs, 7” front wheels, 8” rear wheels and manual headlight operation.
In addition to the M471 package, the car has received a wide selection of other upgrades to fully prepare the car for historic rallying. In the interests of safety; always a top priority in any ramsport build, the body has been further reinforced with a bespoke roll-cage supplied by industry leaders Custom Cages. The cabin features two FIA certified Sparco Pro 2000 fibreglass bucket seats with both 5-point TRS safety harnesses and conventional 3-point inertia seat belts. The onboard fire suppression system includes a hardwired foot-operated Zero 360 fire extinguisher unit plus an additional hand-operated Zero 360 extinguisher unit mounted in front of the co-driver’s seat.
The entire wiring system has been uprated via the installation of aerospace-quality looms and electronics. Additionally; specially constructed under body protection has been added beneath the front and rear ends ensure any driving conditions can be tackled with no damage, whilst specially constructed exhaust headers routed over the driveshafts allow for extra clearance and accessibility.
The twin plug 2.4 litre engine runs on correct Weber carburettors has had a fully documented rebuild by Prill Porsche Classic. Featuring Mahle Motorsport barrels and pistons, extra oil filtration, full road silencing and proper air filtration; the torquey and tweaky unit drives through a new Sachs clutch and fresh built, correct, original, 914/6 gearbox.
The occupants are looked after in a well-considered cabin. A heated screen paired with a black flocked dashboard to aid in combatting glare and condensation whilst warm air ducted from behind the oil cooler and fresh interior carpets provide comfort in all conditions.
The original 914/6 steering wheel and dashboard dials remain, supplemented by additional toggle switches for control of the fuel system, lights and heaters etc. A tb&c 600-series racing pedal assembly has also been installed.
The co-driver is provided with a Brantz International Pro 3 rally clock with remote control and a separate driver’s side display, a dash-mounted analogue Tag Heuer stopwatch, built-in map-lights and a floor-mounted alloy footplate. Communication is aided by an inbuilt Peltor radio communication system and thoughtful storage space has also been incorporated into the cabin.
Currently in Historic Regularity Rally set up; the car is ready for a new owner to enjoy in its current guise or take to the next level as a fully-fledged Rally or Circuit-racing car. The car comes with complete UK Historic registration plus a comprehensive history file which documents the full rebuild process at Ramsport.
